I paint in various media but mostly in watercolour which by its very fluidity gives rise to chance effects and if the painting is to succeed asks not to be overworked. I strive to give equal emphasis to the surface of my painting, as to the subject matter. It matters to understand the need for a good composition, a balance of lights and darks or a choice between contrasting colours or a harmonious colour palette. Each painting is a new challenge with new problems to solve.
I am not concerned with style. I believe that like handwriting one’s individuality is expressed naturally.
